.
Maker’s tasting notes – Deep red with purple reflections. Nose very fruity, with a little spicy red fruits. Subtle and balanced with strong tannins.
.
Somnambulist's verdict: A good, if simple example of the “black” wines of Cahors. Very dry and very strong tannins – a bit too chewy to drink on its own, needs meat or cheese to soften it up. Definitely worth a try at this price if you fancy a change of varietal.

  1. Mas del Perie is indeed a very nice wine. I tasted one while in Cahors. Maybe not the same as you because it was very drinkable by itself: soft, nice and round with just enough tannins to give it structure and show it had ageing potential.

  2. @Anon - Hi, thanks for dropping by and adding your comments. I did of course only try one vintage of the Mas del Perie, and have happily drunk other Cahors wine without food. I do think some people may find the '06 a little heavy on tannins not to go with food, but that will probably change with age. In any event, at this price it's a bargain and I urge people to give it a try and see what they think!
    Thanks for the link...
