"Les Baudrieres" Pouilly-Fume 2006

Name: Les Baudrieres
Colour: White
Country: France
Region: Pouilly-Fume
Year: 2006
Producer: Dominique Baud
Grape Varieties: Sauvignon Blanc
Alcohol: 12.5%

Purchase Price: EUR 9.99

Notes:

Struggled to find much information on this wine or the producer. References seem to be largely from German sites so that is probably the main market. Will update if we come across anything else.

Somnambulist's verdict: A very pleasant, drinkable Sauvignon Blanc, if a little uninspiring. Smooth, quiet and lemony, with a touch of citrus acidity. Wouldn't pay up for it.

  3. Great blog!I spent half my life drinking everything but wine.Fortunately I discovered wines!!Everything moment of the process is fascinating since it starts in the fields till the moment we drink it!If you ever visit Portugal go to Oporto and visit the cellars(do not know if this is the word for the place where the wine rests before being bottled or already in bottles... you know...or go deep into the country,up river Douro to see where it is cultivated!Just a suggestion,of course...:))

I love wine, used to run a wine shop (within a department store).. such a great joy selecting the wines to sell & recommending what goes wih what food etc. Got out of touch really what is around so I will watch with interest.
My current fav is Rioja Blanco 2007 Marqués de Cáceres .. yum...

  6. @70s - You ran a wine shop? Wow.. one of my dream jobs :-)

I have long been a fan of Marques de Caceres since being introduced to it by my ex-father-in-law a dozen or so years ago. The Reserva is terriffic and will definitely be appearing on these pages before too long...

  7. yep lived the dream in the late 80s my oh my how fab it was. Have always fancied/dreamed about having my own wine bar/coffee shop chilling place .. very bohemian, fine art and fine wine

Not tried M de C's Reserva as much as I like red it doesn't like me so stick to white

  8. @70s - Well, well.. for 20 years I have had this idea of a cafe / wine bar / gallery combo just bubbling away on the back burner. I know where to come for help if it ever gets off the ground! ;-)
